About Dr. Varsha Joshi
My journey in radiology is defined by a commitment to specialization, continuous learning, and leadership.
Dr. Varsha Joshi did her medical schooling in Mumbai and began her radiology career with valuable clinical experience at P. D. Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai. She went on to complete a Fellowship in Head and Neck Imaging at the University of Chapel Hill, USA under the mentorship of two globally renowned Neuro and Head and Neck Radiologists - Dr. Suresh Mukherji and Dr. Mauricio Castillo. Over the past two decades, she has been based in Hyderabad and has worked at two of the city’s most respected healthcare institutions - first at Apollo Hospitals and now at Vijaya Diagnostic Centres Limited. She also serves as an Associate Professor at Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, where she blends academic teaching with advanced clinical practice. Her career reflects a rich combination of international training, academic depth, and diagnostic expertise.
Her academic contributions include multiple publications in indexed journals such as Radiographics and IJRI, and authorship of textbook chapters in Head and Neck Radiology in respected radiology textbooks including CT and MRI of the Whole Body by Haaga and Boll, and the IRIA Comprehensive Textbook of Clinical Radiology. She was also the Guest Editor for the Neuroimaging Clinics of North America (NCNA) issue on paranasal sinuses in 2017. She has also served for a decade on the Board of Trustees of the Radiology Education Foundation (REF), actively involved in the resident training initiatives across India. Her recent accolade includes serving as Associate Editor for the 8th revised edition of Sutton’s Textbook of Radiology and Imaging, a prestigious and immensely popular international reference textbook. She has also been the recipient of Certificate of Merit and Magna Cum Laude award at meetings pf the RSNA and ECR in the past.
Dr. Varsha Joshi is an invited faculty at numerous national and international conferences, where she has delivered lectures and conducted hands-on workshops in Head and Neck Imaging. She is a regular Faculty for Head and neck Radiology at various National and state IRIA conferences and also the Annual meetings of the ISNR and ISHNR. She has also been invited to speak at the National Radiology Conferences of Kenya and Nepal, RCR meeting at Dubai and most recently at the Annual meeting of the European Society of Head and neck Radiology in Sweden in 2024.
She was a founding member and the Vice President of the Indian Society of Head & Neck Radiology (ISHNR) at its inception in 2019, and went on to serve as President from 2021 to 2022, helping shape the society’s vision, academic initiatives, and national and international presence. As part of the society’s outreach programs, she was invited to deliver lectures and conduct training in Kenya and Nepal, strengthening international ties and knowledge exchange. She currently continues to guide the society’s progress as its International Liaision Officer.
